The managing Director of the IMF Christine Lagarde believes that financial technologies such as digital currency, should be subject to regulation, not to be a threat to financial stability.

She said this on April 9 in an interview with CNBC.

As noted by Lagarde, regulators say these technologies are useful and changing the business models of commercial banks. The head of the IMF stressed that the cryptocurrency “clearly undermine the system” and therefore should be regulated.

“We must remember about two things: trust and stability of the system. IMF concerned about stability. We don’t want innovation that will shake the system so that we will lose the required stability,” she said.

We will remind, the legal regulation of cryptocurrency is significantly different in different countries. In most States it is not regulated.
