Ethereum Creator Vitalik Buterin did not support the idea of the hard forks. He is confident that the ASIC miners do not represent a real threat.
Earlier, the developers of Ethereum offered to produce hardwork network for the fight against mining on ASIC. Part of the community supported this idea.
However, during Friday’s team meetings Ethereum Vitalik Buterin said that such actions will not lead to the expected results and will only distract the community from more important things.
Recall that in response to the message about the release of the E3 Antminer from Bitmain company developer Piper Merriam presented the idea and implementation of hard forks that will allow to avoid the use of ASIC for mining ETH.
A massive update would be difficult, and the process will be chaotic. Besides, it will distract us from more important things, so I have a negative attitude to the proposal of Merriam.
In turn, Merriam stressed that the present proposal is a short-term solution and will not provide protection from ASIC for a long period. Buterin added that such measures may not be required to redirect resources and eliminate hardware development.
Also at the meeting were discussed the development update Casper FFG, which will be implemented in the blockchain hybrid mechanism of consensus Proof of Work (PoW) / Proof of Stake (PoS). For inspection and testing of Casper, according to the plan of developers, will take another five months. And now all the attention the team focused on this process.
However, the Manager of the Hudson Jameson noted that if the Ethereum community still insists on a fork, it can continue working in this direction, regardless of major developers.
